Merry Christmas From My Family to Yours

TMO finally brought us our household goods from San Antonio last week and I've been busy unpacking and trying to reconfigure everything into our new house.

The base housing isn't bad but we're moving into a smaller place from the home we bought in Texas and so now I'm just trying to find a way to squeeze all our stuff into this place.

Who else set out cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer? Now, as a child my mom and dad didn't do the whole cookie by the fireplace thing. That was an "American" tradition. So now as an adult I have my kids do it every Christmas. It was about 5 years ago that I learned that you leave carrots out for Santa's reindeer. Like a complete spaz I thought it was a healthier alternative for Santa the first time I saw it. >_<

I mentioned that we're still unpacking boxes right? That goes for our christmas and other holiday decorations are still in storage. Seanie, my youngest asked me all sad a few days ago, "Mommie, we don't have a fireplace, and we don't have a tree, where will Santa put our presents this year?" Sean's dad found a way. We took one of the packing boxes and had Sean draw a christmas tree. We all added our own decorations, mines were two angels (one for each of my boys) with twinkle lights, Scott added spongebob, Sean added T-Rex and Domo. They put a note at the bottom of the box for Santa 'Please leave presents here.' Here's a photo I took from my iphone 4. [yea some of us are content without Siri :P ] The look on my little guy's face was PRICELESS!!

This morning he woke us up around 5am and was jumping for joy at the sight of presents under this improvised christmas tree AND Santa left a half eaten cookie, no carrots, and an empty glass of milk on the table by the box. ^_^

It wasn't a designer holiday, our house wasn't decked out with lights or decorations, but my family was finally together. Being a military family you have periods of separations, deployments, etc. It was nice to finally have us all in the same place, minus my oldest who was celebrating in California before we move him to Florida since he's been in school there while we were doing through a lot of transitions the past year.

I'm thankful for my family, my friends that I've had and made at each of my bases. My friend's in turn have become the family that I've chosen to keep in my life. I'm fortunate for everything I have and I hope that with all the hard work I intend to go through will let me pay all this good fortune back. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Gulfarium Day with my side kick

(Google Images) On one of our adventure days, me and my sidekick "gophie" visited a place called GULFARIUM  . It's a pretty cool marine life museum with dolphin shows, shark chats, stingray chats, and sea lion show. I wouldn't recommend it during the winter since it's mostly outdoors but it was still a ton of fun for us. They also give military discount, * SCORE * Nurse Sharks Bumper the Sea Turtle On this particular day since it was cold not to many people were there. So we got a lot of information from the people giving the information for the shows and even got invited to watch the trainers feed the sea turtles, Bumper & Bailey. We also saw the Nurse Sharks and Lemon Sharks during the 'shark chat'. Our trainer (Ms. Alice) definitely gave us a lot of information and reminded us about sea conservation, recycle and don't trash the ocean! DID YOU KNOW? Touching a Florida Sea Turtle is ILLEGAL ?? Yea, this california born girl didn...

New Base, New Place

(found off Google Maps) Recently my family and I have PCS'd to a new base in Florida. Eglin AFB. We've been here for about 2 weeks and I've been exploring the area slowly while unpacking all our boxes into our new digs. I wish I could say that it gets easier to move around but it really isn't, if anything it becomes more of a headache when the travel policies change constantly and by the time I get to the next base its like my family has accumulated so much stuff I can't even remember owning it to begin with! So far my house is now walkable, but I'm surrounded by boxes galore. It does give me a chance to go through a bunch of items that I've been meaning to get rid of. Prior to our move, we bought our first home in Texas, which was a nice big house for our family, it also meant we had bought a lot of items to fill the house and now that we're in another state, we've moved into a smaller house so I'm learning to become a lot more crafty a...

The list of things I wish I had when I first started living on my own

Hi Blog world! So as the holiday season is dying down and I'm still unpacking the last of the boxes and getting this house organized, I was inspired to blog about the list of items I wish I had known to buy the first time I had moved out of my parents home the first time at 18 years old. When I was 18, I was a young mom to an infant, newly married to the father (now my ex-husband) and was working and trying to figure my way into college. I had lived at my parents house up until then and being in a Filipino household my mom did everything her way, which meant I didn't learn squat on how to care for my own until I had thrown myself into adulthood. When I rented my first apartment, it was a crappy ghetto one bedroom in a descent part of town that wasn't furnished. At the time my parents were nice enough to let me bring some of my bedroom stuff from my old room into the new place to use since I had my oldest son with me. Of course all the household items I bought at that ti...
